Lease Changes Without Consent

Just got an email that I lose my privacy on January 1. Will be giving notice of move-out by the end of December. Previously used my own locks, but now they are not only forcing everyone to switch to coded locks, the codes are stored by “a third party vendor,” AND they’re charging $6 a month for the new locks. I did not agree to that and it was not part of my original lease. I did not consent to added equipment, added charges, or the privacy violation. Absolutely would NOT recommend this facility. Additionally, they changed the building lettering/numbering, but did not change the unit numbers, making it difficult to find the correct door for units. On top of that, they constantly increase rental fees, but can’t spend money to fix broken door knobs on buildings.

Frazzled

We get to the storage place. The gate entry was good. We couldn't get our storage unit opened. The lock was malfunctioning. We never got it to open. The only way to talk to someone was virtually in their office. We spent over an hour trying to open the lock code assigned to us . We finally got the lady on the virtual chat in the office to change our unit to another unit next to us. After changing units, that lock unlocked successfully. We were very tired and frustrated. It's very hard to that there was not a physical person on sight to assist us .It took way to long to get our problem solved. Because of the long delay we had to work in the dark to unload our big truck.The virtual lady Lee was trying her best to assist me, and very kind. Even with all the problems with our first impression of the storage place, it was of no fault to Lee that was trying to help with the situation.

Quick and convenient

We needed it fast. Everything worked out well.

Quick and Easy

I needed a unit quickly and they had one that met my requirements. I was able to get my paperwork done online and then went to meet the manager. She was friendly and helpful.

Very frequent price increases/poor management

Avoid! Find another storage place! Positives: Clean, no items stolen or damaged (yet) Negatives: Constant Price Increases --we had multiple units. Example $77-$94 within 6 months, $48-$55 in under a year, $167-$200 in 18 mos? (Their online sys doesn't show the complete history so hard to get exact dates. Constant increases or new mgmt are probably the reason for this.) Security gate is open a lot when we drive past. Mgmt has a sneaky clause in a long contract to help them selves to a (monthly insurance fee($9-10 per unit per month) when their copy of your ins proof of coverage expires. They do not notify you this is happening, they just take the money (with autopay). Even when updated ins info is supplied promptly showing no lapse or changes in coverage, they will not refund these fees. Dishonest! Mgmt changes often. Usually young and inexperienced. Some have good cust svc exp, some do not. We did try another storage place in Statesboro (A Affordable Stg), and it was a completely positive experience. Not a single price increase nor any extra fees. I'm betting about all other units in town are better!

THE PRICE IS GOOD

I WILL TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE STORAGE PLACE AND THE PRICE. THE ONLY THING I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IN MY UNIT IS A LIGHT. IT HELPS WHEN YOU ARE TRING TO LOCATE AN ITEM.

I was able to reserve my unit online set payment arrangements get my gate pass code in unit number so that I could make my first visit their easy seamless and at my convenience. Great customer service they made my life so much easier!
